Singapore Airlines Finds Cracks
In Wings Of 4 Airbus A380s

PARIS (Dow Jones)--Singapore Airlines Ltd. (C6L.SG) said Wednesday that inspections on four of its Airbus A380 superjumbos have revealed cracks in the wing rib brackets inside the wings of the double-decker aircraft and that repairs have either been carried out or are underway.
Parts have been replaced on one of the aircraft and it is back in service, the airline said. Repairs will be carried out on the other three planes, it said.
The inspections were ordered last week by the European Aviation Safety Agency on a third of the 60 A380s in service.
The plane is made by Airbus, a division of European Aeronautic Defence & Space Co NV (EAD.FR).
Singapore Airlines said the EASA Airworthiness Directive requires that it carry out checks on six of its 16 A380s by the morning of Jan. 28 and to carry out any necessary repairs.
The EASA directive also applies to aircraft operated by Dubai-based Emirates Airline and Air France-KLM (AF.FR) with a high number of takeoffs and landings.
Singapore Airlines said: "The safety of our customers and crew is our number one priority and we will ensure that we take whatever action is needed for the continued safe operation of our A380 fleet. We have been liaising closely with Airbus and are keeping the relevant regulatory authorities fully informed."
Airbus has insisted that the aircraft are safe to fly.

การที่สิงคโปร์แอร์ไลน์ได้ให้ความสำคัญกับความปลอดภัยของลูกค้าและลูกเรือเป็นอย่างมาก ดังจะเห็นได้จากข่าวข้างต้นที่จะมีการตรวจสภาพและบำรุงรักษาเครื่องบินอยู่เสมอ ถึงแม้ว่าการบำรุงรักษาแต่ละครั้งจะต้องเสียต้นทุนมากก็ตาม จึงแสดงให้เห็นว่าสิงคโปร์แอร์ไลน์ได้ให้ความสำคัญกับ Stakeholder (เช่น ลูกค้า, พนักงาน, ฯลฯ) นอกเหนือจาก Shareholder เนื่องจากสิงคโปร์แอร์ไลน์ไม่ได้ดำเนินงานเพื่อมุ่งหวังกำไรเพียงอย่างเดียว แต่พวกเขามุ่งถึงคุณภาพของบริการและความปลอดภัยของผู้โดยสารด้วย
